Q1) Tell us a little about yourself!
Hey There 😊 My name’s Amanda and I’m the Owner of LLL-Designs a Canberra based Fun and Fabulous Handmade Jewellery Brand. Which I started so I could make my own rewarding career despite my many health challenges. Which include Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Chronic Daily Headaches, Chronic Migraines, Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Asthma, Endometriosis, Polycyclic Ovation Syndrome and Chondromalacia Patella stage 4 in both knees.
Q2) Tell us about what you do, and why you do it
I run my own Fabulous Colourful & Quirky Jewellery Brand right from my home based in Canberra. I create laser cut Jewellery in our studio and have pretty much taken over our entire house now.. It all began when I had to give up my “regular” career due to my worsening health challenges about 8 years ago. I stared making Jewellery and Candles and selling them to family and friends, which soon led to attending small local markets in my then hometown of Toowoomba. It stayed quiet small and we moved to Coffs Harbour and continued to attend community markets and sell at a local store. Having a positive – fun and social outlet was such an important thing for me. My health continued to decline – but my little biz helped me keep moving forward and also smile. 😊 The mental toll these conditions were taking on me were far greater than the physical most days and without my biz I honestly don’t know where I would be today. I think my life would look VERY different to how it does. Then we move to Canberra 5 years ago. And I decided it was time to make some choices. I chose to focus solely on Jewellery and stopped making Candles and also made the move to selling online not just face to face, and opened our Etsy Store. This was a big deal at the time!! I was SO nervous – I felt I wasn’t good enough and had put it off for soooooo long. But once I took the leap there was no looking back. Approximately 2 years ago we opened our own website – which was another exciting leap. LLL Stands for Live the Life you Love 😊 And that is exactly what I strive to do with my little biz! Spreading Happiness and Smiles brings me so much Joy. We are always learning and growing and looking for the next challenge and opportunity to do something amazing!
Q3) What makes you feel courageous?
Spending time with my girl gang. Even just having a chat over the phone or a text message back and forth. When ever I am struggling or lacking confidence my girl gang are always there for me, to remind me of my worth, my strength and my ability get through all challenges that I have ever come up against. Often sharing times I have given them courage to help them through challenges themselves.
Q4) What is one thing you wish you could tell your 16-year-old self?
Don’t believe what everyone says to you, even if they are much older than you, in a position of authority or family for that matter. You will go on to prove them wrong! You can be YOU!
Q5) What is one piece of advice you can give a fellow lady who might be lacking courage?
You have everything you need inside yourself. But you just need to find the people to help you discover the ways to tap into it and harness your true power. Find your tribe and you will always be there for each other. Sometimes you can’t see your own worth but your fellow girl gang will always remind you!
