Q1) Tell us a little about yourself!
My name is Crystal, I'm 21 years old and in 2016 I was diagnosed with a rare facial bone cancer when I was 18 years old. Since then I've decided to become an advocate for my rare cancer and promote body positivity, healing and self-empowerment. My whole being is about loving yourself and being kind to others - because I believe the more kind we are to each other the more this world will be an inclusive and better place for everyone.
Q2) Tell us about what you do, and why you do it
I am an actress, blogger and public speaker. I act to tell new stories (and because I love it so much), I blog to connect/help people and I am a public speaker to help educate and inspire others with my story.
Q3) What makes you feel courageous?
I believe that doing what I love makes me courageous. I am basically doing the same things I did before cancer/operations and even though it is scary because I am putting myself out there for public opinion, the reward is worth it. I get a massive buzz when I'm on stage and I want to help promote that so others within and out of the visable difference community can feel courageous to do the same.
Q4) What is one thing you wish you could tell your 16-year-old self?
Loving yourself is the most powerful super power you have, with it, the bullies and all of the people who want to spout negativity on you will not matter. It will literally wash off like water because once you love yourself? Who honestly cares about the opinions of others? You don't live for them and they don't for you - so shine, stand out and be the most awesome you can be.
Q5) What is one piece of advice you can give a fellow lady who might be lacking courage?
Close your eyes and imagine a life without fear. What would you do? Where would you go? How would you feel? Open your eyes, write it down and begin to realise that is your dream life. Looks good doesn't it? Now, would you rather wake up every day happy and grateful that it's a Monday because you get to go into work and do what you love? Or the opposite. Always flash forward to your end of your life and ask yourself if you would have any regrets - and then take a deep breath and take that leap of faith.
Don't wait until something bad happens to change your life or go after that dream - do it now without any judgement or side eyes from people. Live life for today and rise.
