Q1) Tell us a little about yourself!
My name is Dani Aravich and I am 23 years old! I currently live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was born without my left hand and forearm.
Q2) Tell us about what you do, and why you do it
I am currently training to qualify for Team USA for Paralympic Track & Field. The Olympics and Paralympics are less than a year away! When I'm not training, I am working one of my many jobs, traveling, or practicing my photography!
Q3) What makes you feel courageous?
I feel courageous when I am running. I feel courageous when I go out in public with my arm exposed, something I used to be so scared of doing. I feel courageous when I post a photo on social media with my arm showing. I feel courageous that I don't let anyone or anything stop me from embracing who I truly am.
Q4) What is one thing you wish you could tell your 16-year-old self?
I wish I could tell my 16-year old self to stop worrying so much what other people think about me. I would tell her to stop being embarrassed about her difference. I wish she knew that the difference she once hated would someday be the fuel to her fire in order to become an athlete she never thought she was possible of becoming.
Q5) What is one piece of advice you can give a fellow lady who might be lacking courage?Don't let the fear of disappointing others take control of your life. You are your own best friend at the end of the day and you need to do things to make YOURSELF proud. Stop worrying about the useless opinions of others, focus on living the life you want to live.
